Russian minister of culture believes “The Oscars” is too “overpromoted”

Russian minister of culture, Vladimir Medinsky, doesn’t have special feelings to the Oscars. He believes it has a meaning and value for English-speaking cinematograph. “It is an award for movies produced in English. But world cinematograph is much broad,” – he said.

He also believes the value of this award is also over-evaluated. Therefore it is not so important what Russian movie will be presented at the competition. In any case the selection of movies for Oscar competition is a subject matter for filmmakers.
