Russian Pension Fund also wants a piece of RAO’s “royalties pie”

Russian pension Fund has inspected Russian authors society in order to be sure whether RAO has paid all pension insurance fees. Apart from details of this inspection, which are confidential according to representative of pension fund and not so important, there are more urgent issue – the reason of inspection, in other words why Russian Authors Society did not pay these fees.

Spinal Tap – money flow dispute

Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer first performed together live as Spinal Tap in a television show in the 1970’s. They later, with Rob Reiner, developed the characters in the Spinal Tap band and made a short film with improvised scenes and seven songs. In the process of attempting to turn that short film into a feature-length movie, they formed a joint partnership, “Spinal Tap Productions” (“STP”). On the strength of this work, on May 7, 1982, Reiner, Shearer, Guest, and McKean, as co-owners of STP, signed an agreement with Embassy Pictures for production, financing, and distribution of the motion picture This Is Spinal Tap.

Ennio Morricone wants his copyright in music for three films back

Composer filed suit seeking a declaratory judgment that Marricone Music is the sole proprietor of the United States copyright in three film scores composed by Ennio Morricone and that all United States rights to those film scores now being claimed by Bixio Music were terminated. This case arises out of an actual controversy between Morricone Music and Bixio both of which have asserted competing claims to public performance royalties collected by the ASCAP from the public performance of the film scores in the US.
