Russian government proposed to exhaust USA trademarks rights in Russia as the answer to USA sanctions

The Russian government has decided to introduce its own sanctions as answer to USA’ sanctions and has proposed new law. The aim of draft law is to protect the national interests and security of Russia, the rights and freedoms of Russian citizens by way of measures preventing unfriendly and illegal action of foreign countries. The measures, provided in draft law, are mandatory for Russian state and local authorities, for Russian citizens and for legal entities under Russian jurisdiction.

Russian Ministry of culture “knows” where you can find illegal copies of movies in internet

It has been received a permission to distribute one movie, the Death of Stalin, in Russian cinemas. But then, due to “public opinion”, the permission has been revoked. The reasons is not so interesting, the most interesting is the fact, that Russian ministry of culture (MinCult), the authority supervising distribution of movies in Russian cinemas, knows where to watch the illegal copy of this film in internet.

Initial proposal to make social networks responsible for user generated content in Russia

Significant part of products in Russian light industry is counterfeited

It means approximately one third of all products in Russian light industry is illicit and counterfeited. Not all these products have been produced in Russia. Part of them has been imported thanks to weak customs control at the borders with China and countries of Eurasian economic union. According to Russian ministry of trade the illegal turnover in light industry counts up to 1.4 trillion Roubles.

Some facts about regulation on portability of online content services in EU

To prevent the sale of counterfeit goods online, the Commission invited internet platforms, rights owners and associations to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on the Sale of Counterfeit Goods via the internet (‘MoU’).
