The member of legislative assembly of Leningrad region, Vladimir Petrov, has proposed to ban dubbed movies and programs on Russian TV. He believes non-Russian language content must be broadcasted only “with original sound and Russian subtitles” if necessary.
Petrov has already sent his ideas to Russian ministry of education. He believes such measure would encourage Russian citizens to learn foreign languages. According to his opinion television can carry out also an educational function, not only entertain.
