Russian TV channels, belonging to major Russian media holding Gazprom Media, have applied to Moscow court for preliminary measures in relation to Russian search engine Yandex for copyright infringement. The court sided with applicants and notified Russian internet watchdog Roskomnadzor thereof.
Such procedure means that the applicants have to file a copyright infringement lawsuit against Yandex within next few days. TV companies believes Yandex has illegally placed their content on its service Yandex.Video. “Despite the notifications Yandex did not ceased infringement of our copyright. Yandex’s search facilities provide users with links to pirate web-sites, where content (of TV companies) in published”, – explains the statement on Gazprom’s web-site.
